Something I still feel ashamed of from childhood is not attending my Grandfather's funeral. I was 10 and knew that I should go, but weaseled my way out. In more recent years, while visiting a friend in hospital, I asked if her 'best friend' had come by. Apparently, she hadn't because she didn't like hospitals. Who likes hospitals or funerals? At the end of if all, our friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues remember those with the maturity to be there when the chips are down. Too often, we think of excuses. Real influence - and respect - goes to those who show up. Especially to hospitals and funerals.
Today's chuckle:
Laugh and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world looks sheepish and suddenly remembers it had other plans.
