When it comes to relationships - be they at work or in your personal life - you may occasionally be faced with deciding whether to stay-in or get-out. These decisions can be emotionally charged and may have life changing consequences. With that much at stake, here's a tool I discovered to help make the decision less knee-jerk and more thought-full. I call it calendar comfort©. Essentially, calendar comfort means setting a calendar date; say in 3 or 6 months time, when you'll make your final decision. Meantime, you continue to try to make things work, gather information, or get counseling. That enables you to support the relationship while giving yourself emotional breathing space. Chances are by Decision Day, you'll know what's best and be ready to move forward.
